Progio Mobile Trainer
program enables personal trainers
to boost business, keep clients motivated between
sessions
Lets trainers develop and
deliver customized workouts their clients can use
anywhere, anytime
LOS ALTOS, Calif. – June 5, 2006 – “I wish I
could take you with me!”
For years, personal trainers have heard that refrain
from their clients, especially when the summer or
holidays are approaching. Personal training clients
often would like to take advantage of their
trainers’ knowledge and motivation between scheduled
training sessions. Unfortunately, taking a personal
trainer with you wherever you go just hasn’t been
feasible – until now. The Progio Mobile Trainer
program makes it possible.
Thanks to a partnership between Companion Worlds,
Inc., maker of Progio (www.progio.com),
and Personal Training on the Net (www.ptonthenet.com),
the largest personal training online education
portal, personal trainers are now able to send
customized workouts – complete with picture and
video instructions – with their clients via
compatible mobile devices. This gives their clients
a digital personal trainer to take with them to use
at home, on vacation or wherever they may be between
one-on-one personal training sessions.
Progio is software that turns a mobile digital
device, such as a Pocket PC or a Windows Mobile
phone, into a digital personal trainer. Progio
presents workouts in an interactive, motivational
and unconstrained format with timers and multimedia
instructions, including photos and video that
demonstrate the ideal body position and cadence for
each exercise. The software is as easy to use as a
digital music player, and it seamlessly turns a
mobile digital device into a workout companion.
PTontheNet is an online fitness education resource
with an extensive exercise and flexibility library
that personal trainers can use to develop custom
workout programs for their clients. The technology
integration between Progio and PTontheNet enables
these programs to be downloaded via the Internet
onto a mobile device for clients to use while
working out.
Here’s how it works: The trainer must sign up with
Companion Worlds for the Progio Mobile Trainer
program, and the personal trainer’s client must own
a Progio-compatible mobile device. These devices
cost approximately $299 to $399 and include a wide
range of Dell Axims and HP iPAQs, in addition to
other products. Then, using PTontheNet, the personal
trainer develops a customized workout program for
the client and sends it to the client’s Progio
device via the Internet. Next, the client receives
an e-mail notification to synchronize his or her
Progio device. Once the client downloads the
program, it is available on the Progio device
wherever and whenever he or she works out.
“Creating customized workout programs on PTontheNet
and delivering them to mobile devices via the
Internet enables personal trainers to provide more
comprehensive training services to their clients and
build a new source of recurring revenue,” said Dirk
Bartels, CEO, Companion Worlds. “It helps personal
trainers to boost their income by charging for each
customized program they develop and send, and it
helps them to retain clients longer by keeping them
motivated through ongoing access to customized
workout programs.”
With more than 1,500 exercises, stretches and
progressions that include detailed descriptions,
difficulty levels, pictures and videos, the
PTontheNet exercise and flexibility library is an
immense resource for personal trainers. PTontheNet
includes Create-A-Program, a powerful program design
tool for developing customized workout programs with
content from the exercise and flexibility library
that become mobile through Progio.
“The integration of our exercise and flexibility
library with Progio is a great value-added feature
for our more than 30,000 fitness professional
members. Our integration with Progio enables the
easy delivery of portable, digital content to our
members’ clients for use between their scheduled
training sessions or while the client is traveling,”
said Richard Boyd, CEO, Personal Training on the
Net. “Delivering mobile workout programs is a great
way for personal trainers to generate additional
revenue between scheduled sessions and when
appointments are missed due to busy schedules,
travel and other conflicts. Progio makes it simple.”
