Former NBA star Detlef
Schrempf Joins Companion Worlds’ Advisory Board
LOS ALTOS, Calif. – June 9, 2006
– Companion Worlds, Inc., maker of Progio, today
announced former NBA star Detlef Schrempf has joined
its advisory board.
In a professional career that spanned 14 seasons,
the versatile 6-foot-10-inch forward won two NBA
Sixth Man Awards, made the NBA All-Star Team three
times, earned a spot on the All-NBA Third Team and
helped the Seattle SuperSonics reach the NBA Finals
during the 1995-1996 season. A native of Leverkusen,
Germany, Schrempf, 43, currently works as an
assistant coach for the Sonics.
“Detlef brings tremendous athletic training and
conditioning experience, as well as a wealth of
contacts in professional and collegiate sports, to
our team,” said Dirk Bartels, CEO, Companion Worlds.
“His experience and guidance will be extremely
helpful as we continue to expand our library of
fitness, training and conditioning workout programs
and develop leading-edge mobile sports and fitness
technologies to help beginners as well as
professional athletes improve their performance.”
Progio is software that turns a mobile digital
device, such as a Pocket PC or a Windows Mobile
phone, into a digital personal trainer. Progio
presents workouts in an interactive, motivational
and unconstrained format with timers and multimedia
instructions, including photos and video that
demonstrate the ideal body position and cadence for
each exercise. The software is as easy to use as a
digital music player, and it seamlessly turns a
mobile digital device into a workout companion.
“Progio is an incredible product,” said Schrempf.
“Being able to take complete workouts that include
audio and video instructions with you is like having
an expert personal trainer guide your workouts
wherever you are, whenever you want to work out. It
takes training to a whole new level, and I look
forward to utilizing Progio and helping more
athletes improve their performance through Progio.”
